week 13 day 2

Hi Pine people! Our friends handled today like champs with our flow of the day out of order and a surprise adventure thrown in. We chose to stay indoors this morning for gross motor time and we have an assigned time for that which is pretty early in the day so our flow was different, which some friends noticed on our visual schedule. We shared the gym space with friends from the Oak room! Our surprise adventure was getting a picture of our eyeballs taken!! (We participated in a vision screening today and the results will come home to families soon). Hope everyone stays safe and warm with our first sights of winter weather settling in to St. Louis. Also, we started a new activity that we will continue throughout the year called baby doll circle time which is from Conscious Discipline. I will send home more information about this as well the I Love You Rituals we are learning in class so you can try them at home!

Parent Pop-In update! We would love to host parents to pop in on Nov 22nd. Just a little info about pop-ins: This a brief opportunity to come into the classroom with your child during the school day. We will try to feature a couple different times/activities throughout the year for you to participate in. We understand that not everyone can make it and that is ok, in fact, be prepared that the room may get a little crowded and the class might get a little loud. This event may be exciting for some students but for others this may be overwhelming. We understand that by inviting families in, it does disrupt our usual flow which may pose a challenge for some but offers an opportunity to learn to adapt and utilize coping with frustration skills. Our time together will typically be at arrival or dismissal time for 10-15 minutes. Please note that this is not a time to bring siblings or extended family members. We will offer after school experiences throughout the year better suited for those people to attend.

For our first pop in, we are choosing to invite parents in at pick up/end of day, as we think this may be more successful for students to be able to leave with parents at the end as opposed to saying good-bye to parents and continuing on with our day. Our plan is to make a special Friendsgiving Day snack and make a keepsake about what we are thankful for. We invite you to join in on the fun at 10:45 and leave with your student at the conclusion of our day at 11:15. (Not all pop-ins will be this long but we want to have enough time for our first adventure together! Please enter the school through the main doors and wait at our interior classroom door until a teacher opens it to let you know it's time to come in. While you wait, please be courteous of the other classes by gathering near our door quietly while you wait. If possible, please fill out the google doc if you know you are coming and if it will be 1 or 2 parents. Thanks :)

It was a Ms Amy day!

Happy Wednesday

How lucky are we that it was nice weather which allowed for much needed outside time!

Happy New Year!

Hello Pine AM friends! It is so nice to see you guys again after 20 days! I hope everyone enjoyed the time off and maybe even a little fun in the snow. Today we only had 2 kiddos come to school which felt so strange but we made the best of it. We will be ready to fully jump back in the swing of things next week with new words IN and OUT, exploring our expanded Bakery and Cafe in our dramatic play area, reading stories about winter and hands on experiences with things that are cold.
