Welcome back

Welcome back Pine Family! We hope you had a great holiday weekend but glad you are back with us. This week may be a short week but we will pack it with lots of fun. We are really settling in to our flow of the day and our visual schedule is helping friends become comfortable with what to expect. We changed up our activities in class to allow for some new experiences. Our friend Ms. Julie joined us today and she brought a fun fine motor/sensory activity with her.  For the rest of the week, friends will get a sensory/fine motor experience in the sensory table. We changed out our dramatic play area from a kitchen to an office. Here friends could explore different pieces of equipment and pretend to go to work, be a teacher, etc. Lastly, we included another sensory/fine motor experience with playdough where friends could create, squish, and put in/take out items. Ms. Julie also did some great music and movement with us to help our bodies practice control. We ventured outside for gross motor time where Ms. Julie brought another cool activity. (Sorry for the muddy shoes; we didn't think we needed our boots today) Some of our Pine friends found a special animal friend, check it out!

They worked purposefully and explained the different parts as they worked.  "We need to cut out a circle for it to be the telescope." B, V, & E continued to work with one another and make compromises throughout their building in order to make the best version of a submarine as they could.  The three finished building their submarine, but noticed something was missing.  "It needs a propeller so it can move!" How could they make a propeller? What does a propeller look like? The kids got to work on some research about wh...

How lucky are we that it was nice weather which allowed for much needed outside time!
