Balancing Act

We were so lucky to get out before this rain/snow mix started happening. Although it was much colder than it has been the last couple of weeks, it was still nice to get out and stretch our legs. The sandbox is typically a place where the boys enjoy, but today they weren't ask excited to get to digging in the sand. I don't blame them, the sand felt so cold! Some of the boys didn't give up on playing however, they just found a different way to engage with the space.

Along the edge of the sandbox are large boulders that create a barrier that will hopefully encourage kids to keep the sand in 😁 Those large rocks, however, served more than just their intended purpose for the Pine room today! Throughout our time outside a few of them tested their balance by trying to walk along them without falling off. This is something a few of them have done in the past, but today they were determined to make it all the way around without falling off. Some of those rocks are slippery so it was quite difficult!

A, J, & W were all walking along at their own pace when B noticed his friends.
"Up?" He asked and with a little bit of help he was making his way across the large rocks. Love to see peer encouragement!

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

so close now....

Can you believe that we only have one more day together this school year? Today we celebrated the second to last day with a summer bday celebration. We also revealed our tie dyed shirts! (we only did a light rinse, beware that colors will run when you wash!!) TOMORROW: WATER DAY! You need to wear your suit, water friendly shoes, sunscreen already applied, water bottle, towel and dry clothes to change into!
