A Happy Accident

Happy Thursday! We ended our week with a pretty funny and happy accident in the beginning of our day. As you can imagine any time we play with playdoh it is inevitable some or all will fall on the floor. Not a problem since we tend to embrace messes. There are times, however, that playdoh is intentionally thrown on the floor and that's when things tend to get interesting... like today!

While playing at the table B, T, and W were happily making all kinds of molds, cut outs, and whatnot with their individual playdoh piles. After a few minutes, there was a decent amount of playdoh on the floor which T found particularly entertaining. He decided he too would put his pile of dough on the floor. I watched as he dropped it, climbed off his chair, and then deliberately stepped on it. At first, I was ready to ask him to pick it up off the floor and place it on the table, but then I took a moment to just watch and wait to see what happened.

T picked up his playdoh and brought it over.

"Shoe!" he said as he pointed to the print he made with the bottom of his shoe. How clever!

B noticed the fun we were having and decided he wanted to try too. For the next 10 minutes the two of them would take turns smashing some playdoh onto the floor and then step on it to make a print. We talked about how they all looked different and had various shapes imprinted into the bright green dough.

"Square!"

"Angle [triangle]!"

The three of us laughed as it was just too funny stepping in playdoh, something we typically do not do. All in all, a happy accident that was fun to embrace for a little bit during our day.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

so close now....

Can you believe that we only have one more day together this school year? Today we celebrated the second to last day with a summer bday celebration. We also revealed our tie dyed shirts! (we only did a light rinse, beware that colors will run when you wash!!) TOMORROW: WATER DAY! You need to wear your suit, water friendly shoes, sunscreen already applied, water bottle, towel and dry clothes to change into!
