Peaceful Morning

This morning J came in with a purpose at the light table. He noticed a big stack of transparent magnetic blocks sitting on the table and his eyes lit up! J began to get to work. He carefully separated out the different shaped pieces- triangles, squares, circles, etc. Once he sorted out the blocks he began construction. He worked quickly and with purpose as he looked around and began putting pieces together.

"A house!" he exclaimed as he put the finishing touches for the roof. He continued to play out a scenario as he built and stacked.

J looked over and noticed that I was sitting at a table near him. He loaded up a basket of magnetic tiles and brought them to me.
"House!" he said indicating he wanted me to build a house too. We built some together.

J was so engaged as he continued to build and play a familiar story in his head. He would crash the blocks, laugh, and then begin to build again. He spent most of his morning just enjoying some at the light table to start his Wednesday. A lovely way to start any day.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

All the fun

Today was not a typical day in the Pine room. We pulled out some new items to explore, had an impromptu dance party, capered, had a practice fire drill (during snack of all times) and ended out in the sunshine by the snail.  To our sick friends, we wish you well and hope to see you Monday! Have a great weekend :)
