Another steamy morning at the preschool, but that didn't stop us from getting outside for a little bit! Since we have the opportunity to check out different outdoor spaces every day, the boys have been engaging in all kinds of different play. I love that we are able to expand our skill sets through play in different areas, it's fun to watch!
Today, the boys got to play in the slide section of the playscape which also features another area that we call the rock box!
L made his way over and plopped down next to a big plastic tube, probably 4 times as long as L! He began to pick up fistfuls of rocks and put them in the opening. L giggled as he listened to the rocks make their way down and finally coming to a stop. L tried again and expected to see the rocks come falling out the other end, but no luck!
All of the noise the rocks were making got N's attention. He quickly ran over to the tube to check out what was going on. He, too, picked up some rocks and put them in. Both boys quickly realized that the rocks were not coming out the other end. Now what?
This didn't stop N from trying something else! He grabbed the big tube and pulled it over to a part of the rock box that had a little bit more space. He slowly began to lift the plastic pipe over his head. A few rocks trickled out! He didn't stop there. N then continued to lift it over his head until he successfully made all of the rocks come tumbling out!
Both boys laughed and giggled as the rocks tumbled out like water and landing in the rocks below. N gave it a few shakes and successfully cleared out the whole tube. N looked quite satisfied with himself so he tossed the tube to the side and moved on.
We love to see this kind of problem solving! Instead of giving up, N continued on and found a way to make things happen!
