Splish Splash Chicken's Taking a Bath!

Good morning!
Last week, I had a conversation with a friend from the PM class about learning something new. Over the past couple of weeks he has been telling a few of the Pine teachers about Minecraft and all the different characters, locations, and activities you can do while playing the game. It was so enlightening to hear him talk about something he was really interested in and took the time to teach us something! While staying home, I have found myself wanting to learn something new too, but little did I know I didn't need to look to far! For today's blog, Ms. Katie has taken the time to take a video of her chicken! Learn something new with me and watch below

Can you guess what this chicken is doing?

Chickens take baths to keep clean, just like you. But instead of getting into a tub of water, chickens take a bath by digging a shallow trench in fine, dry soil or sand. They roll, wiggle, and throw the dirt to get it all over their feathers. The dirt helps them to absorb excess oil on their skin. The dirt also helps to remove any mites or lice that may be on the chicken. When they are all done, they stand up, fluff out all their feathers, and shake all the dirt off. Then they feel nice and clean.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

It was a Ms Amy day!

Ms Amy Wednesday

Ms Amy always has fun practicing speech and language! Our friends had lots of opportunities for different kinds of movement.
