Working Together from Home

Hello! We made it to Thursday, nice work 😊

Since we are trying to navigate through these crazy times, what better way to build community in your own home by doing things together?! Today, let's focus on the positives of being together- even though we are very much apart. I think it's safe to say that the impact this is all creating makes us reach for any sense of community and connection.

Before we left for spring break, the Pine class was working a lot on family and what each of our families look like. We talked about how some have moms and dads, some just have dads, and other families may include grandparents, aunts and uncles. There are so many ways in which we can be a part of a family! The Pine room is its own kind of family. We have a wide range of abilities, ages, and personalities that keep our classroom the fun loving place it truly is.

How can you build more community in your own home? Maybe it can be as simple as working together on a project, or eating dinner together every night. There is no right way to be a family, but I think in these times its especially important to remember you always have your family- including your school family.

We, as teachers, have a LOT of love to give. We wish so desperately that we could be sitting in the classroom together creating, laughing, and learning today.

Stay well & with all of the love,
the Pine teaching team

Please enjoy this video of Ms. Kim and her grandbaby, JP! They worked together to build and create something- I wonder if you can do that today too?

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

All the fun

Today was not a typical day in the Pine room. We pulled out some new items to explore, had an impromptu dance party, capered, had a practice fire drill (during snack of all times) and ended out in the sunshine by the snail.  To our sick friends, we wish you well and hope to see you Monday! Have a great weekend :)
