What Do You Hear?

I hope you all enjoyed such a beautiful weekend! It was so nice to be able to enjoy the sunshine and spend some time outside, safely social distancing of course 😊

On Saturday I spent some time outside and was noticing a lot of the different sounds I was hearing. There were birds chirping, bees buzzing, cars driving by, and sometimes the low hum of an air conditioning unit. I stopped what I was doing and took a second to just listen. I was able to hear so much more! I decided to make a list of the different sounds I heard and then wanted to draw/paint pictures of those different sounds. It was a really fun memory game to play with myself. I wonder if that's something you can do too? Here's a look at one of the paintings I made!

Can you make a list of all the different things you hear? Can you draw, paint, or even just describe what was making that sound?

Try it out! Upload your pictures or videos to the Google Photos folder so we can see what you made too!

Before you get started, read along with Ms. Kari another one of our favorites Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Bill Martin, Jr.

Have a great start to your week! I can't wait to see and hear about all of the ways you guys have been learning at home!

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

All the fun

Today was not a typical day in the Pine room. We pulled out some new items to explore, had an impromptu dance party, capered, had a practice fire drill (during snack of all times) and ended out in the sunshine by the snail.  To our sick friends, we wish you well and hope to see you Monday! Have a great weekend :)
