The River and the Bridge

C walked into the collaboratory and headed straight to the big blue blocks. He began constructing a tall tower, choosing which blocks should stack on one another very carefully. When he was satisfied with the height of the tower he began lying down longer blue blocks beside it. Once finished, he started laughing and clapping.

"Look what I did!"

B came running over to check it out.
"What is it?" B asked with curiosity.
"It's a bridge and a tower. The big bad monster lives under the bridge and we can't wake him up!"

E noticed what C had built and explained that she made a river that was running next to his tower and bridge.

When asked, "how can the river go under the bridge?"
The Pine friends looked puzzled.
"Well, this is the bridge over here and the bridge is over there."

C perked up and thought of a solution as to how the animals that live in the water could get through the tower.

C started poking his hands and fingers into various holes holes in the blocks and explained,
"Well like the sharks and fish can go through this hole, and then this hole, and this hole, and this hole, and then they can come out! It's like a tunnel."

The Pine friends always seem to find a solution to a problem, even if it may not always be the most obvious.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

All the fun

Today was not a typical day in the Pine room. We pulled out some new items to explore, had an impromptu dance party, capered, had a practice fire drill (during snack of all times) and ended out in the sunshine by the snail.  To our sick friends, we wish you well and hope to see you Monday! Have a great weekend :)
