Some Pine friends wandered over to the block area and decided it was time to change the ramps into something different.
"We should make a zoo! We have to put all these animals in closures."
B, V, C, & E began constructing two separate towers.
"This tower is for the animals. Well it was for the animals, but it isn't anymore. It's now like for people to come in."
"The blocks keep falling over and then we put this down here so it was more steady."
They continued to build the first tower and added decorative pieces to "make it look beautiful."
"C & me built this other one. It has all of the animals inside."
E lifted up the top blocks and peeked inside. All of the "scary animals" were trapped.
"This is where we have to keep all of the scary animals. They have to stay in their closure. That's why the 'stop' block is here. It tells people to not go inside!"
"This is where we have to keep all of the scary animals. They have to stay in their closure. That's why the 'stop' block is here. It tells people to not go inside!"
"This is the entrance of the zoo! It's where everyone comes in."
"No, it's not an entrance, it's where people start! That's why the 'go' block is over here."
The four kids created a familiar environment with very detailed and logical explanations as to why they created the scene. They built on previous knowledge about zoos and applied the concepts of "go" and "stop" into practical uses for their structure. It was such an amazing scene we hope to continue to build on next week!
