Early in our day today B & F started building tall towers to knock over. Just then, one of the tree cookies fell off and rolled away. F's eyes lit up. He picked up the tree cookie again and pushed it across the carpet. B perked up and exclaimed, "I know what we can do!"
B worked quickly as he put one block on top of the other and rolled the tree cookie down the ramp.
"It worked! F, it's your turn!"
B noticed how far the tree cookies were rolling and got another idea. He started building an exact replica of the other ramp.
"We have to try and get them to roll to the other ramp! F is trying too!"
The two boys continued to roll the tree cookies down the ramp. B then started lining up tree cookies between the two ramps.
"I had to make a road so that the different things can roll to the other side."
The two continued to take turns as they pushed the different round pieces down the ramps.
All of the sudden, B noticed a problem...
"They keep falling off! We need to build bars so they don't roll off!"
B put up for blocks to act as guard rails for the rolling objects.
"There, I think that will work. Now we just need to make a start sign so people know where to start. Wait, what's the opposite of start? Because we need a sign that people know where it ends."
The kids sat together and thought about what the opposite of start could be. Just then B spoke up.
"Well, like you have start something and then you stop it. OH! The opposite of start is stop!"
B sat down and started writing out s-t-o-p. He finished the sign and asked to tape it down on to the block on the other side of the newly constructed tunnel that bridged the two ramps.
"Now everyone knows where it should stop."
B & F showed their other friends how to use the ramps they built. Everyone took turns rolling the tree cookies down one side in hopes it would make it to the other side. There wasn't much luck, but because the Pine kids are resourceful and persistent they will most likely find a way to get the tree cookies to the other side.
