Can You Trace Your Creation?

B & E picked up some different transparent materials from the table and set them up on the flat surface of the light projector.

"Let's make a car!" B exclaimed as he began rearranging the gems into a rectangle. He picked up two transparent circles and placed them down for wheels.

"There, I made a car!"

V had a different idea as she began to take a bunch of circles and cram them together above the car. Although she never expressed what she was making exactly, she definitely had a plan.

"Okay, now let's draw it."

V & B picked up different colored markers and began tracing their loose material creation.

They continued to switch positions as they worked in order to let the light pass over them and illuminate the different colored pieces. They seemed to understand that if they stood in the way of the light, their own shadow would cover what they were trying to trace.

"It's finished! We traced the whole car!"
"Let's color it in!"
"We need to turn off the light to color it."

B & V got to work and caught the eye of some other friends who noticed their newly drawn car.

B took charge and let his friends know which squares and circles needed to be certain colors. He delegated the work load with his friends in order to finish their work of art.

Week 2 Day 2

Pine Family is rocking and rolling in week 2! We are having less feelings of sad, mad, and scared upon entering class and more happy and fun throughout the day!  Friendly reminders: Water bottles should only come to school filled with water (it's the best for our bodies and in case another student would accidently take a sip it won't cause harm), sunscreen should be applied before drop off (there is not a lot of shade and not a lot of time for us to get the kiddos all lathered up), and bug spray should be applied before drop off (this is mostly needed when we start going to the forest on Tuesdays, starting on Sept 12th). Thanks :)

Welcome back

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend together but glad to see you all today. We changed out our word of the week, ask your kiddo if they remember what it is (PUT). At centers we continued exploring small world and our bakery. We opened the sensory table again and some faux snow and polar animals which was a big hit! We also changed out our gross motor center, changing out our obstacle course (crawl through tunnel, jump 10 times on the trampoline, and (steam)roll or summersault on the mat) for some thing new. Ask your kiddo if they tried to scoop the snowball, carry it across the balance beam and PUT it on the snowman.

All the fun

Today was not a typical day in the Pine room. We pulled out some new items to explore, had an impromptu dance party, capered, had a practice fire drill (during snack of all times) and ended out in the sunshine by the snail.  To our sick friends, we wish you well and hope to see you Monday! Have a great weekend :)
