E sat down and picked up the eyedropper with curiosity. He carefully squeezed the rubber tip and watched as the blue water flowed into the glass receptacle. E quickly squeezed it out and laughed as it shot all over the container. He did it once more, but this time decided to gently squeeze the rubber end. He watched as one droplet came out at a time.
"It's a raindrop!"
"Look, a raindrop! It falls on my head."
E watched as each drop hit the bottom of the container. He then decided to squirt the eyedropper at the plastic sitting in front of him.
"The raindrops are going down! It's raining!"
E then realized what was going on behind him projected on the wall. A video showing raindrops falling from the leaves accompanied by the sound of rain.
"Wow! It's raining here too!"
"Look it's on the wall!"
E & L tried touching the wall and discovering that the rain wasn't actually there. They ran their fingers across trying to catch the drops. They could hear the rain, they could see the rain, but they were unable to touch it.
E sat back down and started dropping the water on the plastic board. He stuck his hands into the water and laughed as he exclaimed one last time, "It's raining!"
E continued to look back over his shoulder to watch the rain as he created his own rain right in front of him. He continued to comment on how the eyedroppers created raindrops and that they sometimes fall on his head. It's been really enjoyable to hear the kids talk about their own experiences with the rain and making outside connections! We are looking forward to the day it rains so hopefully we can play in it 😊
