"It's me!"

C looked in the mirror and excitedly exclaimed, "It's me!" He talked to E about the different parts of their faces.  "There's two eyes, nose, mouth, ears, oh and my hair!" "Yeah, I have two eyes. Here's my mouth." "I'm drawing my silly face. I need to draw my hair. I made it short, but then it is going to be long."  "I'm makin' my mouth." C continued to glance in the mirror and then put his pen to paper. He added a lot of different details, explaining each important part of his face.  "I have eyes. They are like this." "ME! My mouth and my nose." V got right to work and drew her eyes.  "I need blue for my eyes." E was excited to show he could draw the his different features. Butterfly!

E brought in a butterfly to share with the class! All of the kids were immediately intrigued by the winged insect and wanted to start getting up close and personal with it. It's orange and black and white and tan. He's like as big as a dragonfly!" V used a magnifying glass to get a closer look. We talked about the different parts butterflies have including their mouths and tongues.  "Butterflies don't bite though." - V "They don't sting either!"- E Still concerned on ...

It was a busy Wednesday at the playdoh table. Most of the Pine friends worked both individually and and together to create all different kinds of scenes and works of art.  B explored the playdoh by pushing his fingers into it after he smashed it on the table. He tried each finger making different sizes.  "Squeeze!" "I made water for the sea animals" "This will be the grass. It's for the panda." "I have the cutter. I made a giant stripe!" E tested out his ability to use cutters in each hand. He tried cutting the playdoh at the same time and then using each one by itself.  "These are tiger stripes!" "I have to cut the stripes off." "I'm doing them where they go in order on a real tiger." "A duck! Quack!" V & E worked tirelessly on making an island where the animals went when they were hurt.  C as...
